A tropical family vacation in this spacious pole house, located in a peaceful rainforest setting overlooking the Coral Sea, will be one for you to remember.
Just ten minutes from the relaxed, small resort town of Port Douglas, the house, on two levels, is conveniently close to other attractions such as the world-renowned Great Barrier Reef, beautiful Mossman Gorge, the fertile Atherton Tablelands and the heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest.
About an hour's drive from Cairns International Airport, along a spectacularly scenic route that hugs the coast, this home is easily accessible for overseas travellers.
With modern and comfortable appointments, the house has plenty of space for family activities as well as a few quiet nooks in which to curl up with a good book or a cup of your favourite brew.
When Lee Walters first set eyes on this lofty pole house, surrounded by three acres of tropical rainforest plants and towering liana-entwined trees in addition to a large swimming pool with spa and full sized tennis court, she was smitten.
Built into the side of a hill near Port Douglas and framed by tropical
palm trees, the spacious and welcoming open-plan timber home house
immediately appealed.
Its massive structural poles, once strong
and sturdy rainforest trees, give the feeling of 'oneness' with its
environment as well as being a brilliant solution to building on a
hillside to take advantage of views!
Lee doesn't live there all the time so she decided to rent it to special couples and families for part of the year.
This tropical home's large swimming pool, tennis court and expansive
views of the Coral Sea help to make it welcoming and comfortable, just
perfect to rent for a tropical family vacation.
With six double
bedrooms and three large entertaining areas, this home, set in three
acres of gardens and forest and with all the facilities of a resort, is
ideal for visiting families or small groups.
Port Douglas is a popular spot for weddings. Quite often,
friends and extended family members, who may have travelled many
thousands of kilometres, stay on for a week or two to enjoy a holiday
once the wedding is over. Cahaya Puri has proved to be an ideal base for
relaxing and 'catching up' with friends and family as well as for
exploring the region.
As well as being perfect accommodation for a tropical family vacation or
for a group of friends, Cahaya Puri is also available for celebrations
such as birthday parties and wedding receptions. Please contact Lee to
enquire about your special wedding plans.
Individuals, couples or
small groups are also welcome when Lee is in residence. Rates range
from $130 to $600 per night (3 nights minimum), depending on occupancy
arrangements.
Lee divides her time between Cahaya Puri in Port Douglas and her
other home in Sydney, with the tropical holiday home competing very
favourably for her time! A keen sailor and gardener, Lee also loves to
entertain, which she does with considerable flair.
I have enjoyed many a pleasant and lively meal in the company of
a dozen or so artists around Lee’s large table on the open verandah,
overlooking the distant Coral Sea.
Lee is a champion of the Arts, encouraging and supporting local
artists in their endeavours as well as being a hobby artist herself.
Some of her art collection lines the walls of Cahaya Puri, giving the
house an added warmth and interest.
The studio downstairs has multi-purpose functions and may be used for creative endeavours, entertaining or just as a quiet retreat from which to observe dancing blue ulysses butterflies, sunbirds or the strange-sounding, camouflaged curlews.
Whatever your interests, this tropical family vacation home is
the perfect, spacious retreat, just a little removed from the busy
activity of the lively resort village of Port Douglas.
