“We are looking for images which capture the essence of the Daintree – here is an opportunity to showcase the Daintree using the creative skills of artists and photographers who have a passion for the area”.

“I encourage all professional and amateur artists and photographers from Far North Queensland who have visited the Daintree to enter the exhibition.”

Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours are sponsoring the “Daintree Characters” category, which they have named the Steve Walsh Portrait Prize in memory of Stephen Walsh who died in May 2010. “Like Jungle Surfing, this is a tribute to Steve and to the inspiration of the rainforest he loved,” said Managing Director Sheena Walshaw.

“Steve was an unforgettable and incredibly creative individual and one of the true characters of the region. His passionate belief in the Daintree and in sharing and showcasing every aspect of it was legendary and he’d be proud to be encouraging others to contribute their visions of this inspiring environment.”
