ARTrinsic Inc, the creators and organisers of the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture, is proud to announce an exciting partnership with the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) as part of its ten-year celebrations.
The finalist portraiture works will be on public display at WA’s State Art Gallery. The Black Swan Prize for Portraiture will be the signature event of AGWA’s Portraiture Month from Saturday 8 – Monday 31 October 2016. This partnership enables the popular exhibition to be on display for a longer than usual period of time, attracting a wider audience of art lovers and general public alike.
AGWA Director Stefano Carboni said he was looking forward to seeing the works exhibited at the Gallery. “We are delighted to be welcoming the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture to AGWA and celebrating its ten year anniversary. Each year, the Prize has grown in popularity and stature, and I look forward to viewing the entries for this year’s Award.”
ARTrinsic Inc Executive Director Tina Wilson said ”We are so excited to be celebrating 10 years for our prestigious art prize and through the new partnership with the Art Gallery of WA, the participating artists works can be showcased longer to a larger audience. Each year the number of entries grows and we cannot wait to see what the 2016 artists works will bring us”.
More than 400 artists are expected to enter the competition this year, all vying for the $50,000 first prize donated by The Lester Group, and the $7,500 People’s Choice Award. The Lester Group have been sponsoring the main prize since the event’s inception in 2007 and are delighted to again be associated with the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture in its 10th year.
The 30-40 finalists will be announced on Friday 5 August 2016, with the main winner announced at a special Award Night on Friday 14 October 2016.
