Call for Australian Artists
by CREATIVE NONFICTION
(Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States)
The quarterly magazine Creative Nonfiction (www.creativenonfiction.org) is seeking an Australia-based artist to illustrate our upcoming fall 2012 issue, Creative Nonfiction #46.
We’ll consider various types of media — line drawings in pencil or pen and ink, collage, watercolors, lino prints, etchings, acrylic or oil paintings etc. — and welcome all styles of interpretation well suited to a print format. The chosen artist will work closely with our editorial and design staff to create 8 to 10 original designs that will be featured on the cover and interior of the magazine.
Creative Nonfiction is based in the United States of America and has an international circulation of 7,000, so this is a great opportunity for an Australian artist (student or professional) to have his or her work seen by a large audience. The chosen artist will also be profiled for at least three months on CNF’s website, which attracts nearly 13,000 visitors per month, and the issue will be launched at the 2012 Melbourne Writers’ Festival.
The Creative Nonfiction Foundation pursues educational and publishing initiatives in the genre of literary nonfiction. Its objectives are to provide a venue, the quarterly magazine Creative Nonfiction, for high quality nonfiction prose (memoir, literary journalism, personal essay); to serve as the singular strongest voice of the genre, defining the ethics and parameters of the field; and to broaden the genre's impact in the literary arena by providing an array of educational services and publishing activities.
The Creative Nonfiction Foundation was incorporated in 1994 and is a private not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Interested artists should upload a resume and three low-resolution jpeg samples of their best work no later than 11:59 PM (GMT) on March 16, 2012. A link to an electronic portfolio in addition to emailed images would also be helpful.
