As one of the most popular events on the Festival Cairns calendar, Carnival on Collins is the ideal way to spend Fathers' Day Sunday. This year Carnival on Collins not only celebrates its 20th birthday, but is the standout finale event of Festival Cairns, and an apt way to bring to a close the region's cultural extravaganza.
Indulge in a bonanza of activities and entertainment with almost 200 stalls. including plant stalls, lifestyle products, arts and crafts, food and refreshments, three exciting stage of live entertainment, and a free Children's Wonderland for the little ones.
There's also amusement rides, roving entertainers and a coffee retreat for the adults. Add to this horticulture and enviro-friendly information booths, plus much more.
This year's Carnival on Collins promises to be the biggest and best yet and two decades after the first carnival took over the Edge Hill culture precinct, this is the chance for the Cairns community to celebrate a bit of local history with the 20th birthday celebrations.
A Market Feast will be presented by Q150 and the State Library of Queensland within the grounds of the Tanks Arts Centre. A range of traditional and contemporary Asian dishes are available as cooks share their recipes, stories, histories, dance , music and culture whilst preparing your meal
