Holiday in this tranquil pole house home near Port Douglas

When Lee Walters first set eyes on this lofty pole house overlooked the Coral Sea, surrounded by tropical rainforest plants with a gorgeous swimming pool and full sized tennis court, she was smitten.

On the lookout for a special tropical home she felt that Cahaya Puri fitted her dreams perfectly.

Built into the side of a hill near Port Douglas and set in by tropical palm trees, the spacious and welcoming timber pole house immediately appealed.

Lee doesn't live there all the time so she decided to rent it to special couples and families for part of the year.

With a large swimming pool, tennis court and expansive views of the Coral Sea, this tropical holiday home is welcoming and comfortable.

Its six double bedrooms and three or four large entertaining areas, set in three acres of gardens and forest, make it ideal for visiting families or groups to rent for their Port Douglas vacation.

Individuals or couples are also welcome when Lee herself is in residence, when a bed and breakfast arrangement is possible. Rates range from $130 to $550 per night depending on occupancy arrangements.

Lee divides her time between Cahaya Puri in Port Douglas and her other home in Sydney, with the tropical holiday home competing very favourably for her time! A keen sailor and gardener, Lee also loves to entertain, which she does with considerable flair.

I have enjoyed many a pleasant and lively meal in the company of a dozen or so artists around Lee’s large table on the open verandah, overlooking the distant Coral Sea.

The studio downstairs has multi purpose functions and may be used for creative endeavours, entertaining or just as a quiet retreat from which to observe dancing blue ulysses butterflies, sunbirds or the strange-sounding, camouflaged curlews.

Whatever your interests, this tropical holiday home is the perfect, spacious retreat, just a little removed from the busy activity of the lively resort village of Port Douglas.
