The Cell art space Management Committee is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition of Billy Missi's Mina Mikia Imau (Little Glimpse) from 26th July to 7th August 2009.

His body of work, a collection of prints on paper, is an expression of the importance of cultural heritage, survival, kinships and everyday life. He explores the complexities of the people of the Torres Strait, and how they survived for many, many generations in their tropical paradise.

We wish to invite you to the launch of Missi's exhibition on Friday 31st of July at 5.30pm at Cell art space, 109 Lake St (Ergon Energy Building) followed by complimentary nibbles at Twelve Bar Cafe. (Cnr Lake & Shields Sts).

It would be fantastic if you could attend the launch.

The exhibition runs until Friday 7th August. Viewable 24/7. Free. Please contact Carly Whouley, Management Committee Member on 0420 590 681 if you would like more information.

by: Jon Adams

Billy Missi is one of FNQ's most exciting artists and part of a group of print-makers who are gaining international attention with their work.
Billy Missi, along with Arone Meeks, Alick Tipoti, Joel Sam and Denis Nona are part of a much wider movement that is redefining the artform of linocuts. These artists will be represented at Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (August 21 -23)at Tanks Art Centre. For more information visit www.ciaf.com.au or contact the people at Djumbunji Press, 54 Greenslopes Street, Cairns
