100 pre-selected works from North Queensland and national artists will be featured at the Cairns Art Society’s 63rd Annual Open Art Exhibition.
The competition showcases an increasingly high standard of works and attracts discerning art buyers.
Exhibiting a broad spectrum of art styles and mediums, artists will be vying for awards in two major categories – Painting or Sculpture and wall art. Minor awards are also on offer including The Unpackers’ Choice Award.
The generous support of sponsors including Cairns Regional Council, Ron and Marion Ireland, Cairns Art Society, and Cairns Craft Centre, means the Exhibition has cash prizes valued at $7000.
Well-known artist, Ms Ludij Peden is judging this year’s competition. Ludij is a practicing professional artist, experienced workshop tutor, and art judge. Her works are well represented in many private, gallery and corporate collections.
The exhibition will be officially opened at Cairns Regional Gallery on 30 October from 5.30pm and will remain on display until 6 December
