BLACK SWAN PRIZE FOR PORTRAITURE

Prize Money:
• Lester Group First Prize $50,000 (generously increased by $5,000 by the Lester Group)
• People's Choice Prize $7,500
This is a national art competition and is currently Australia's third richest non-digital Portrait Prize. Artist's are asked to submit portraits of the following:
• a well known Australian person or people; or
• an Australian person or persons that the Artist admires or is inspired by.
Please note – self portraits are allowed.

Who can Enter: Entry is open to all Australian artists. The Artist must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident for the 12 months prior to the closing date of the prize.

Medium: Portraits may be executed in (but not restricted to) oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastels, textiles, pencils, charcoal, ink and mixed media (no sculptures, digital media or photography accepted).


BLACK SWAN PRIZE FOR HERITAGE (Portrait of a City)

Prize Money:
• Heritage Perth First Prize $20,000
• People's Choice Prize $2,000
Featuring depictions of any aspect of the Heritage of Central Perth the prize aims to raise awareness and appreciation of the built and natural Heritage of Central Perth. For this competition, the word Heritage is defined as “Those things from the past which are valued enough today to save for the people of tomorrow”.

Who can Enter: Entry is open to all Australian artists. The Artist must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident for the 12 months prior to the closing date of the prize.
Medium: Photography and digital media will be accepted along with traditional 2D mediums (painting, drawing, mixed media).

2014 Portraiture Competition Details

The prestigious Black Swan Prize for Portraiture is Australia’s third richest non-digital portrait prize. The annual national prize has quickly become an anticipated event in WA's cultural calendar, creating a showcase of both emerging and established artists. Held in the heart of Perth, the exhibition celebrates Australian’s excelling in their field and strives to foster artistic talent.

2014 Heritage Competition Details

Entries are open from March 1st for the 2014 Black Swan prize for Heritage, an independent competition run by the Black Swan Prize in partnership with Heritage Perth, with a prize pool of over $22,000.

Featuring depictions of any aspect of the Heritage of Central Perth the prize aims to raise awareness and appreciation of the built and natural Heritage of Central Perth.
